P. elevator company co1inenCe3 to realize that Spokane Falls Is a far better grain market than was ever dreamed of. Heretofore there has been only a limited market for grain at this place and the receipts of course, have been light, but this season demonstrates the fact that Spokane is onO of the best grain shipping points on the upper coast.

Notwithstanding the facilities at hand for handling grain the company finds it impossible to take In the grain offered as expeditiously as is necessary and now tt force el carpenters are at work building a huge platform alongside the railroad track just west of the elevator, that is to be used by the company for receiving wheat. Th.8 almost doubles their capacity for handlirg grain and yet it is a question as to vhether it vitt allow room to receive the cereal as fast as offered. It is with pride and pleasure that we see this Indication of the existence of a great wheat mart, and we are satisfied that preparations will be made before next season to handle the grain in better shape. ry Tne iNeatest9 The Tastiest Dealers of Washington Territory. ko WE WANT YOU TO KNOW IT! During our trip to Colville lake we had occasion to stop several tours at Sprague, and were agreeably surprised to note the many improvements in the place since our last visit. The origind seleetors of a town site did not chose wisely in picking upon a location for the town, i'et the people possess an enterprising spirit and have made the best of their surroundings. The town presents quite a thriving appearance and a number of improvetnents are under way.

We see that brick is entering eonspicuously into the ingredients of architecture. There is no doubt but that the car shops, round house and other works connected Nvith the railroad, constitute (he back bone of the place. Many bands are employed in various capacities in these shops and their presence aids materially in keeping the town alive. Of course there is a large scope of country that depends upon Sprague as a mart for produce and a supply depot, but without the hever ceasing support of the large army of hands employed by the railroad the town would languish. We were pleased to note the rapid strides made by our neighboring town in the past year or two, indica tive as it is that eastern Washington Is growing steadily in wealth and population and that this growth is not confined entirely to one favored locality.

While we do not honestly believe that Sprague will ever make a large city, the surroundings precluding a much greater spread, yet It is bound to grow steadily and in time become an Important city in eastern Washington. Business men Informed us that there was a marked improvtnent in trade this fall, and that money is much more plentiful than during the summer. The various stores are doing well and everyone we met felt cheerful over the outlook. Gone to Helena. Hal.
