4 and was inches long oz. CHRONICLE Obituaries Ernest Stueckle SPOKANE Funeral for Ernest Alvin Stueckle, 82, will be today at 11 a.m. at Bruning Funeral Home. Burial will be at the Dusty Cemetery in Dusty, Wash. Mr.

Stueckle died Monday. He was born on the family farm in Dusty, where he attended grade school. Mr. Stueckle graduated from LaCrosse (Wash.) High School in 1938, and began working with his parents on the farm. He married Irma Culbertson in Colfax in 1944, and the couple resided on the family farm.

They retired from farming and moved into Colfax in 1988. They later divorced, and Mr. Stueckle moved to Spokane in 1996. Mr. Stueckle was a member of Country Bible Church, where he served as a Trustee for a number of years.

He was on the board of the Dusty Co-op serving as chairman for many years. He was a member of the Washington Wheat Growers, LaCrosse and Pomeroy (Wash.) Wheat Growers and Gideon's International. Survivors include three daughters, Dianne Morris of Valleyford, Jeanne Levy of Tacoma and Jan Smith of LaCrosse; two sisters, Ruth Gwinn of Seattle and Annie Walker of Spokane; and three granddaughters. Jake Tomsha TEKOA, WASH. Vigil for Jake V. Tomsha, 89, will be today at 7 p.m. at Schanzenbach Funeral Home in Chewelah, Wash. Funeral will be Thursday at 2 p.m.

at St. Joseph Roman Catholic Church in Jump Off Joe, Wash. Mr. Tomsha, who was born in Jump Off Joe, died Monday. He worked at local dairies in the Colville valley area.

Mr. Tomsha joined the Army prior to World War II and served in the Alaska Theater during the war. After the war he worked at Northwest Magnasite and on the family dairy farm. He also worked at a mine in Newport, and then worked for more than 15 years at Tomsha Sawmill as a lumber grader. Survivors include his brother, Louie Tomsha of California; and two sisters, Agnes Williams of Seattle and Betty Tomsha of Ohio.

Helen (Proctor) Sowl SPOKANE Memorial service for Helen M. (Proctor) Sowl, 79, will be Thursday at 3 p.m. at the Riverside Mausoleum. Heritage Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs.

Sowl, who died Sunday, was born in Casper, Wyo. She sang professionally in Spokane in the 1940s and performed church solos and sang in various choirs through the years. Mrs. Sowl worked for Glacier Park in the superintendents office from 1969 to1974 and at Lake Mead National Recreation Area in the superintendents office from 1975 to 1978. She also worked as a Sunday schoolteacher, choir director at Our Saviors Lutheran Church in Columbia Falls, and was a volunteer at a hospital in Yuma, Ariz.

Survivors include her husband of 51 years, George; a son, Edward Sowl of Columbia Falls; three daughters, Allyson Morris, Vicki Osburn and Jeanne Nevarro, all of Spokane; a sister, Jean Sargent of Stockton, eleven grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. Olney Thompson SPOKANE No services will be held for Olney T. Thompson, 89. Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements. Mr. Thompson, a 72-year resident of Spokane, died Thursday.

He was born in Coeur d'Alene. He graduated from Central Valley High School and attended Spokane University. Mr. Thompson worked in the sales industry and was a member of the Masons. Survivors include a daughter, Karolyn Kosanke of Abilene, Texas; a son, Thomas Thompson; a brother, Ted; and three grandchildren.

Kerkman, who died Thursday, was born in Rockford. She married Bernard Kerkman in 1938 in Dishman, and lived in St. John, until her husband died in 1964. She then moved to Pullman, where she worked at Washington State University until she retired in 1981. Mrs.

Kerkman was an active member of the Concordia Lutheran Church. She enjoyed gardening and flowers. Survivors include a daughter, Bernice VanDusen of Kennewick; a son, James Kerkman of Layton, Utah; nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren. Joyce Gylling SPOKANE Memorials service for Joyce I. Gylling, 73, will be Friday at 2 p.m.

at Audubon Park United Methodist Church. Riplinger Funeral Home in charge of cremation. Ms. Gylling, who died May 6, was born in San Francisco, and was a resident of Spokane for 17 years. She graduated from Colfax High School in 1947, and served in the Air Force as a staff sergeant from 1950 to 1954.

Ms. Gylling worked 36 years for Pacific Northwest Bell, which later became US West, and retired in 1983. She worked for Howard E. Gylling CPA Associates from 1984 to 1987. She was a member of Audubon Park United Methodist Church, American Historical Society of Germans from Russia and the Corbin Senior Center.

She enjoyed traveling with her friends from Corbin Center, and collected cookbooks and stuffed bunnies. Survivors include two brothers, Robert Gylling of Walla Walla and Howard Gylling of Seattle. Geraldine (Nick) Nomee NEWPORT, WASH. Funeral for Geraldine Joan "Geri" (Nick) Nomee, 42, was last Wednesday at Kalispel Indians Community Building, with burial at the Kalispel No. 2 Cemetery.

Mrs. Nomee, a lifelong resident of Pend Oreille County, died May 4. She was born in Newport. She worked for the Kalispel Camp Crew as a fire camp crewman for Bureau of Indian Affairs Firefighting. Survivors include four sons, Nicholas Neal of Montana, Jeremy Neal of Keller, Oshan Nomee of Spokane and Levi Nomee of Usk, a daughter, Adrienne Nomee of Usk; three brothers, Frank Nick Jr.

Mrs. Berg-Gamache, who died Saturday, was born in Lewistown, Mont. She was a resident of the Spokane area for 58 years. After graduating from high school in Winnett, she moved to the Colville area in 1937. She was married to Art Berg from 1941 until his death in 1989.

Mrs. Berg-Gamache worked with HenleCare Photographic Studio for many years. She married Leonard Gamache in 1992, and in recent years the couple spent winters in the Yuma, area. She was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.

Survivors include her husband; two sons, Jim Berg of Reno, and Bob Berg of Eugene, a stepson, Dennis Gamache, and a stepdaughter, Debbie MacEachern, both of Spokane; a brother, Bill Brown of Spokane; three grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Sorensen, who was born Chanute, died Saturday. She was a resident of the Spokane area for 38 years. She taught at the Barton School and was a legal secretary for many years in Southern California. Mrs. Sorensen was a member of Our Lady of Fatima Catholic Church and Saint Theresa's Guild.

Her husband of over 37 years, Joseph, died in 1973. Survivors include her daughter, Kathy Tanksley; a and four grandchildren. Frank Pignanelli SPOKANE Visitation for Frank Pignanelli, 96, will be Thursday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Aloysius Roman Catholic Church. Burial will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery. Mr. Pignanelli, who was a lifelong resident of Spokane, died May 6. As a young man he hauled clay from the family homestead to Washington Brick and Lime.

He met his wife, Clara, when they both worked in the Washington Market. From 1934 to 1945 he and his brotherin-law, Joseph Peirone, purchased fruit from orchards in Washington and Idaho for sale at Spokane Produce Market. Peirone Produce was formed in 1945. He held several different positions with Peirone Produce until July 2001. Mr.

Pignanelli was a member of St. Aloysius Catholic Church. Survivors include his wife of 71 years, Clara; a son, Frank Pignanelli of Spokane; a daughter, Patricia Porter of Spokane; two grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer's Association. Born in Sweet Water, Texas, he grew up and attended schools in Reno, Nev.

Mr. Allen died Thursday. Mr. Allen married Leslie Hethorn in Susanville, and the couple moved to the Blanchard area in 1979 from Reno. They owned and operated the Selkirk Supply Hardware Store in Oldtown, Idaho.

Mr. Allen was a past Bonner County Commissioner, and was a longtime member of the National Rifle Association, Blanchard Community Church and the Newport-Oldtown Chamber of Commerce. He enjoyed reading and hunting. Survivors include his wife; two daughters, Shannon Valentine of Athol, Idaho, and Lani Campbell of Post Falls; a son, Jerry Allen of Blanchard; his parents, Betty and Jerry Allen of Nevada; two brothers, Ken Allen of Arizona and Dennis Allen of Nevada; two sisters, Karen Mcintyre of Nevada and Kathy Spencer of Coeur d'Alene. Landy Harrell Sr. GRAND COULEE Funeral for Landy Harrell 86, will be Thursday at 11 a.m. at Strate Funeral Home. Burial will be at Spring Canyon Cemetery. Mr.

Harrell died Saturday. Born in Louisiana, he arrived in the Grand Coulee Dam area in 1939. He worked with the Bureau of Reclamation, and owned and operated his own ranch and the Night and Day Junk Co. Mr. Harrell was elected to the Grand Coulee City Council in 1964, and was the first black elected official to city office for any municipality since reconstruction.

He served the district for 18 years. Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Elition; three sons, Melvin Harrell Sr. of Grand Coulee, Nolan Harrell of England and Landy Harrell Jr. of Seattle; five daughters, Vera Benton of Seattle, Carolyn Rex of Yakima, Alma Gallego of Seattle, Diane Harrell of Wenatchee and Lucinda Allen of Colfax, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren. Opal (Murdock) Collison SANDPOINT Visitation for Opal L.

(Murdock) Collison, 73, will be Thursday from 9 a.m. until the service at 1 p.m. at Coffelt Funeral Service in Sandpoint. Burial will follow at Pinecrest Memorial Park in Sandpoint. Mrs.

Collison, who was born in Colville, died Sunday. She married Verlin "Collie" Collison in 1947. Mrs. Collison lived in Spokane until settling in Sandpoint in 1961. She had worked as a bartender at the Sandpoint Eagles Lodge for 11 years until retiring in 1980.

She was a member of the Eagles Auxiliary. She was active with local bowling leagues and had won many trophies. Her husband preceded her in death. Survivors include three children, Ronald Collison of Sandpoint, Connie Clark of Sacramento, and Jack Collison of Cornelius, five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
